Hello. It was recommended that I apply for the Verified Publisher Account on our account since we create business-specific snaps designed for our technology hardware platform on www.cluemaster.io
These snaps are solely maintained by myself (Robert Bartram) the owner of ClueMaster LLC and our development staff. We are a small startup company and choose to use Ubuntu CORE as our platform for our media display and room control system snaps.
We have active snaps currently that we would like associated.
Cluemaster-roomcontroller-core
Cluemaster-mediadisplay-core
Cluemaster-videoplayer-core
We also have reserved other snap names starting with cluemaster-*. It would be great if we could easily create company accounts that reserve a base name for us automatically .
Thanks for posting this - but I think Verified Accounts is a better match here than Star Developer - thoughts? If you agree, please update the post title and then the initial post to include the required details. Thanks.
Hi @ClueMaster. Thank you for your request. Could you please specify the group email for the cluemaster publisher account in the Ubuntu One SSO and make it the primary email address of this account? You can do that by clicking on your name in the top right corner on snapcraft.io, then “Account details”, then “Edit details”, and, finally, “Manage email addresses”. Or just follow the link Manage email addresses and log in with your publisher account credentials.
No, this is mainly for your users so they know your snap comes from a trusted entity…
It will not give you any privileges for general security related things like interface plug reviews etc (it might indeed create a bias on the reviewers side knowing you are a verified publisher, but technically it shouldn’t )
I need to provide you with feedback on this public process of requesting everything on your forum’s website. Since I filled out this request including my name and our group email address, my dev group email address has been receiving spam nonstop from bad actors in other countries, specifically China. My latest email was to “The CEO” of Cluemaster asking the dev to forward this email and request the CEO urgently click a link to verify the domain registration for ClueMaster in the Chinese domain reg servers. It looks like they are using the information they find on the forums about the snaps and business info to try to trick staff into clicking their links.
All of this is obviously a scam and they have bots scanning all the Canonical forums for anything they can use to trick or hack users. I humbly request that Canonical reconsider stopping using the public forms for requests for snap security (auto connections), verified accounts, etc. Anything that would give hackers any insight into what software technology is used, requested, or applied for in regards to snap security or Canonical form accounts. At a minimum, make these forums non-public and ONLY viewable to Canonical staff once posted.
Thank you.
Respectfully,
A concerned business regarding security info.
-Robert
