Slack and Zoom won't Open

So I am using Manjaro KDE (stable latest). Installed slack snap but nothing is happening. I tried to start it using terminal also but got no result.

I am using vs code and some other snaps also, no issue with them but slack is not working.

Slack 4.4.0
snap 2.44.1-1
snapd 2.44.1-1
series 16
manjaro -
kernel 5.4.28-1-MANJARO
GPU - Intel Integrated HD (No nvidia)
DE - KDE plasma (5.18)

Can you post the output of slack by running app from command line ?

~
❯ slack
~
❯

There is no output using command line. btw I am using KDE Desktop Environment.

What happens after the command ? It crashes or what ?

Nothing shows. no crash, just nothing like I didn’t executed it.

Seems to work on Arch. Are you using wayland?

You can try running snap run --strace slack and observe any obvious errors.

/var/lib/snapd/snap/strace-static/current/bin/strace: Unexpected wait status 0x8b
error: exit status 1

This message I got, Sorry for late reply.

Also Zoom-Client not working in my Arch Based PC. Just tried.

Checked for snapd.service status and got this maybe if it’s helpful.

can you define “not working” with a little more detail ?
what do you do, what does the app do when trying to start it, are all interfaces connected etc …

also, do you use an nvidia card (there are still some known issues with nvidia 4xx drivers)

I’m afraid there isn’t much information available in the logs. I can confirm that zoom-client segfaults on Arch.

Had to bump the core dump limit to 4GB to be able to collect one.

Inspecting with gdb yields this:

Maybe it has opinions about my fonts? I tried to browse Qt5 source code to find the layout of QFontDef and maybe figure out which font it’s trying to use by examining addresses that appear in the registers, but it became too opaque at some point and I probably made wrong assumptions about object layouts.

there is ~/snap/zoom-client/current/.zoom/logs/zoom-terminal.log that has some diag data too … (i’m guessing the font stuff is just fallout ICBW indeed)

I just had a feedback mail from a zoom-client user telling me it doesnt work on wayland, is anyone here running on top of wayland ?

I’m not using Wayland here.

yeah, that kind of supports @mborzecki’s suspicion towards fonts, not sure i can do a lot from within the zoom snap to fix this …

awesome, thanks ! i’ll look what i can do here …

try adding libqt5waylandclient5 to stage packages or maybe qtwayland5.

rev 57 in the edge channel has libqt5waylandclient5 added, lets see if this is enough …

this happen with my qt apps when i run them on wayland session. have you tried the app in x11 session ??
