Request for automatic-connection for u2f-devices for vivaldi snap

Hi, we kindly ask for automatic-connection for u2f-devices for vivaldi.

Our snapcraft.yaml is in github here: snapcraft/snapcraft.yaml at main · vivaldi/snapcraft · GitHub

Our users are trying to use yubikey and similar devices and are failing because this interface does not autoconnect. There is prior art for this request here for other browsers, we’re in the same situation. We have requests for this, for example this one:

https://forum.vivaldi.net/topic/102394/vivald-not-recognizing-yubikey-in-linux-browser/6

Thank you,

Filip from Team Vivaldi

Actually I did a bit of testing again now. It seems that in addition to autoconnect for “u2f-devices” we also need an autoconnect for “hardware-observe”. Without both I could not get my hardware authetication device to work. It is also worth pointing out that Chromium on snapcraft has both of these and works out of the box.

This is important as many people use Yubikeys (and the like) to login to websites. Indeed I use one to login to my Ubuntu account here.

See also this request.

Similarly to the requests and logic for other browsers like brave, chromium, etc, +1 from me for auto-connecting u2f-devices and hardware-observe to vivaldi.

+1 also from me for granting vivaldi auto-connection to u2f-devices and hardware-observe interfaces

+2 votes for, 0 votes against, granting auto-connect of interfaces hardware-observe and u2f-devices to snap vivaldi. This is now live.
