Why would changing the core snap fix issues on host systems that are newer than the core snap?

Back when Firefox and Chromium had issues with hardware acceleration or stability issue on 23.04 or 22.10, the solution for Chromium and Firefox was to change the core snap due to Mesa.

I don’t have too much qualms against that since it’s a web browser.

But if the app is old/unsupported and is meant to run on older version, that may cause issues.

Would the issue with Firefox and Chromium be repeated on an old app that was repackaged as a Snap for compatibility reasons? I don’t have one I can think of at this point in time, but I’m just curious for curiosity sake.
