What to do after installing wine-platform-runtime?

Hi, I’m still new on linux and I’m trying to run windows installer from an independent source (not popular app like 7-zip, etc.) So I’ve installed wine-platform-runtime (link download) on my PC:

elementary OS 5.1.7 Hera
Built on Ubuntu 18.04.4 LTS - 64 bit

Now what do I do next? I have an app called hots_setup.exe (link download) but when I click the exe file, there is no option to use Wine.

Any help would be appreciated.

As the description of that snap says, it intended to support a set of other snaps containing Windows software so that they don’t all have to include their own copy of Wine. Usually snapd would automatically install the wine-platform-runtime snap when you install one of the dependent snaps.

It doesn’t sound like it is intended as a general purpose Wine installation ready to run arbitrary executables. You might have better luck with the distro packaged version of Wine if that’s your goal.

Oh got it. Thanks for the explanation. I’ll look for tutorials to install distro packaged wine.
