Hi all!
A bit of history. We used to have a snap release, but it was practically impossible to maintain it! Constant problems.
Now we have an appimage that works on all linux distros.
But, @Beeper, .AppImage
is an awful format, I think we can all agree. It doesn’t integrate with the system – no .desktop
file – and it can’t be updated automatically. Why would you settle for such an abysmal UX?
I would like to be the first to disagree.
All 3 major new-era app platforms (Snap, Flatpak, AppImage) have their strengths and weaknesses for both the user and the maintainer.
