Suggestion for reducing 1 common complaint about SNAPs

I have been using Ubuntu for a very long time and SNAPs since they were introduced.

I can’t count the number of Reddit etc Posts from people making a huge deal out of the number of SNAP “loopback” devices they see on their system. Trying to convince them it really is no big issue is almost fruitless.

So I am suggesting … can’t the loopback device names be “dot names” so they don’t show up by default with the “ls” command ?

Someone could still find them but they wouldn’t be “in your face” for Newbies to get all worked up about.

There is a simple parameter that can print all without loopback devices.

$ lsblk -e 7

Anyway , good suggestion i think.

My suggestion is to make it “default” to not see the loopbacks
