Hello Snapcraft team,
I would like to submit my request to be recognized as a Star Developer.
Publisher: SimplyRin
Primary snap: gitpeach-desktop
Store page: Install GitPeach Desktop on Linux | Snap Store
Source repository: https://github.com/SimplyRin/GitPeach-Desktop (public fork of GitHub Desktop)
Base: core24
Confinement: classic (Git operations and integration with existing developer toolchains require broader system access)
Architectures: amd64 (evaluating arm64 support)
Motivation & Value:
GitPeach Desktop is a maintained fork of GitHub Desktop focused on providing a smooth, up-to-date, localized, and well-integrated desktop Git client experience for Linux users. I ensure timely updates following upstream releases and adapt UI/behavior for Linux desktop environments.
Maintenance & Release Process:
Published typically within 7 days of upstream releases (target: within 24–72h)
currently following upstream release series v3.5.2
Quality & Security:
- GitHub Actions CI for build reproducibility and linting
- Dependency and vulnerability monitoring via Dependabot / security advisories
- No additional telemetry beyond upstream; no extra tracking introduced
- Clear changelog in releases; prompt patching of critical issues
Linux-specific Improvements (in-progress):
- Improved localization (Japanese adjustments / fonts if applicable)
- Potential Wayland / HiDPI behavior review (if you have actually done or planned this—adjust wording)
- Streamlined first-run experience for new Linux users (planned)
Community Involvement:
I actively maintain other open source projects and respond to user feedback via GitHub issues and email comments. I also monitor user suggestions to iteratively refine the snap packaging.
Roadmap (next steps):
- Add arm64 builds
- Evaluate stricter confinement possibilities if feasible
- Further localization refinements and accessibility improvements
- Faster automation for upstream patch releases
Why Star Developer:
Recognition would help users quickly identify a trustworthy, actively maintained snap, encourage more feedback, and reinforce my commitment to fast, transparent updates for the Linux community.
Thank you very much for your consideration.
Best regards,
SimplyRin
