Hi, I would like to apply to be a star developer. I publish 15 snaps in total, most notable ones being:
I use https://newreleases.io/ to keep up with the latest releases of most of these apps, in case of Lagrange and Briar I’m subscribed to their RSS feeds. Each snap is connected to a GitHub repo for automatic builds and so far I managed to keep up with updating them.
Most of my snaps are built by repackaging other binaries, be it debs or tar.gz archives. The exceptions to this are Dino and Lagrange. That being said, I faced several challenges as obtaining a binary of something is only the first step and managed to overcome them.
I also take labeling seriously and include (Unofficial) in the names as well as a disclaimer in the description which also contains any known issues that might affect the user’s experience. Most of my snaps also contain custom screenshots to show they really work. (At some point I got curious how would they run on the oldest supported Ubuntu release and as it turns out, really well. So I included screenshots from 16.04 as well)
As for being active in the community, I engage with posts on the forum as well as on the Ubuntu subreddit (u/RDForTheWin). I also enjoy talking about Ubuntu and Snap when it’s relevant in online discussions on Reddit/Lemmy.
My reason for wanting to become a Star developer is so users don’t have to be wary about trusting my snaps as they have no malicious intent, I even link each of their snapcraft.yaml files for transparency and so others can learn from them when building their snaps.
