Snapped LXD has stopped working - aa-exec: Permission denied

trying to run snapcraft cleanbuild I’m getting a permission denied error from the lxd where the wrapper at /snap/lxd/4375/wrappers/lxc tries to re-execute itself using aa-exec. This command does not exist in the snap and therefore cannot be executed. LXC and cleanbuild therefore just does not work.

$ snapcraft cleanbuild

“aa-exec” does exist in the snap. The error above most likely indicates that the LXD snap somehow got disconnected from the “lxd-support” interface.

sudo snap connect lxd:lxd-support core:lxd-support
sudo systemctl restart snap.lxd.daemon

May help with that.

According to your output, your core snap isn’t providing any interface, that definitely looks like a rather big problem with your snapd :slight_smile:

Thank you, do you have the logs from earlier days? I think journalctl only shows that from the last boot by default. You may have to fiddle with options.

Is anything under mounted under /snap?

it looks like I’ve only got the current boot available. journalctl --list-boots only lists the current boot. Everything under /snap is correctly mounted.

logging always happens in parallel to journald and rsyslog … the syslog files should have older data …

I have the same errors on my 17.10 system for apparmor and yet my snap interfaces output looks normal (with and without lxd installed). So while the apparmor errors are something that @jdstrand is probably interested in look like they are not be the cause of the issue.

webrowser-app needs apparmor-easyprof-ubuntu installed. Its profile didn’t load. The lxd warnings are expected because of the lxd-support interface use of ‘ux’. It should be noted that apparmor did start and you have profiles loaded (you can see this with ‘sudo aa-status’), but because some profiles failed to load, it exited with error.
