The snapd team has changed the stable channel of snapd to no longer point to 2.53.1. It is now pointing to the previous stable release, 2.52.1. The reason for this change is a reported potential regression related to the device cgroup handling. This seems to be rare and we are working on improving tests to ensure it cannot happen again.
We already have a proposed fix in https://github.com/snapcore/snapd/pull/11039 and expect to release a fixed 2.53.2 to beta early next week.
