appears when i try to install an app via snapcraft
Could you provide the output of snap version? Also, what Linux distribution and version are you using? Is there anything unusual about your system?
The error message indicates that the snap command line tool can not talk to the snapd daemon. Normally the socket file would be created by systemd, and cause snapd to launch when you try to install a package.
