I was recently reading about the possible development of pull requests-like functionality for git web frontends (Gitea, etc.) using federation with ActivityPub/ActivitySteam. I thought this was a fantastic idea and would love to see it come to fruition.
I started wondering whether the same sort of thing could be accomplished for the snap store. I don’t necessarily mean in the current official store (unless there’s some monumental change in heart wrt that) but just generally as a topic of discussion.
In the abstract I’m not even sure it would fit or be a good idea so I’m looking for thoughts.
Federation does seem ideal in a lot of ways. I’ve noticed a fair bit of churn of snaps needing new maintainers, etc. and I’ve noticed a number of snaps that have not seen updates in ages. So the central store certainly hasn’t solved that particular issue.
