Snap store bugus again - listing page changes applied successfully, but no change applied at all

Snap store bugus again. Every day a new bug.

I have to change everything related to this snap: witchcraft and get a solid changes applied successfully, go to the snap page: every image missing, I need to try again and again. I had spent 30 minutes doing something that shouldn’t take more than 5.

Not a single error message, images have the same usual size and dimension. Some work, some not, I need the most required skill while working with anything related to snap: trial-and-error.

you should file a bug

ogra@styx:~$ snap info snap-store|grep contact
contact: https://bugs.launchpad.net/snap-store/
ogra@styx:~$

(note that the store category here does not relate to the app but to the store backend, i moved this thread to the snap category)

EDIT: OOPS, sorry the dark theme tricked me into believing your pic shows the snap-store app UI, I moved the post back to the store category, please ignore this post

Is this how it’s supposed to look? The likely answer as to what’s gone on is that some caches hadn’t expired quickly enough, when the store is saying the changes have gone through they likely have, but keep in mind that’s only sending the media to one server and not the other 100,000 or so that sit in the CDN’s alongside them which takes time whether you’re the Snap Store or Steam, Youtube, or Facebook.

There might also be browser caches involved … In firefox you can use Shift+Ctrl+R to force reload the page without caching or use a private tab/window

after try section by section and image by image, yes it’s almost right

No, it’s no cache related, its the snapstore it self. i have opened the snap listing on my phone and not a single change have bean applied while the message say it’s was been saved.

I have had this numerous times. I go to the store, update some things, save. Switch to another window, refresh the listing, and it’s not updated. I come back to the store, and everything is reverted. It’s ultra frustrating.

I’ve given this a quick go now, and noticed the listing pages have a fancy new navigation UI (possibly related?).

The text metadata updated instantly but certainly the picture’s not updated in the usual time. I’ll leave it an hour to see if it catches up.

However, the previous pictures didn’t disappear, so whilst the update wasn’t as snappy as would be ideal, it’s not leaving broken image placeholders for me, it just shows the old images.

24 hours later, the old images are still showing; so I’ll have to concede that this genuinely does look broken beyond just caching problems.

I had discover that the snap listing description have a character limit, if you try write a text that is one char long than the limit, it just say: saved and then you update all changes got reverted.

Why in the name o God the limit aren’t written in the page it self?

At this point i will give up the snap. Most linux users and developers hate this thing with a good one reason: A bad experience with every part of snap life cycle: develop, build, delivery, install and use. every step have some annoyance (not a failure or a “not working step”) it’s just annoying.

I need more time trying to guessing stuff about snap than actuality build some thing cool with it. I’m not mad, I’m frustrated.
