Should tracks be allowed without approval?

Currently tracks require store approval to set up. However, the developer should have the final say regarding tracks, rather than a consensus by a group of people who aren’t related to the developer in any way. Why should the community have to vote on allowing a developer to use tracks, when it doesn’t effect the community at all in the first place? The community doesn’t gain or lose anything by allowing or denying tracks, so what is the point of voting on them?

Tracks were introduced to support a very specific category of cases in which a sequence of long-lasting releases would preserve certain assumptions for the user, and thus having the ability to select from that sequence is important.

The approval process which happens openly here in the #store category ensures we remain honest to that cause, and it also enables us to offer a pleasant and mostly homogeneous naming convention.

The community wins when things are properly organized. That’s why we care, too.
