We would like to add Julia tracks for 1.0, 1.1, 1.2, and 1.3 for future use. Currently we’re using the latest track only, and providing only the current LTS version of Julia (1.0). Should we decide to offer other versions via Snap, we’ll need these tracks, assuming it’s okay for them to exist and be empty for a bit.
Julia has a very well-documented release process, the cadence of which perfectly matches track expectations, and which even segments Julia users into risk tolerance personas (which nicely matches most of the snap channel mechanisms!).
Also, while they strive for backwards compatibility, a use case for which tracks are usually not necessary, some users might understandably desire to pin a specific minor revision, whilst still benefiting from patch updates to the same.
Currently, the 1.0 and 1.1 releases exist, with 1.2 in release candidate phase and 1.3 is in master (checked both on-line and with the developers) - so it makes sense to create the requested tracks, even if e.g. 1.3 ends up being empty for a while (it won’t show until it has something published on it).
+1 from me per the above, and since we were able to talk to the devs and reach consensus among the reviewers present at the Snapcraft Summit, I’ve created these tracks. Enjoy!
