Request for classic confinement, hello-classic

Hey

I’d like to request classic confinement for hello-classic snap which is built from https://github.com/zyga/hello-classic

I’m happy to move it elsewhere if needed. The snap is designed to allow people to install a classically confined hello-world snap and inspect how it was built.

CC @jdstrand

I’ve vetted the publisher. It’s clear that the intent of this snap is specifically to explore classic, so the requirements gathering is done. Granting classic. This is now live.

@zyga-snapd - can you request a manual review for r1?

I would say -1 as the description provided here

does not give me any indication of how it was built. The code itself does convey some reasoning to this, but the snap itself does not.

As a side note, this feels like this is more of something you’d do in a tutorial. But if you want to carry on, I will remove my -1 if at least by running and/or the description of the snap is modified to indicate its purpose.

It allows to inspect the binary, which is the purpose here. I don’t have strong opinions on this, just wanted to propose it in case others find it useful.

Note that the process for classic is not (currently) a voting process. The requirements were understood and the publisher vetted, so I granted it. If others feel it should be revoked, I’m happy to do so.

I would like to reword the description to explain what is the purpose of the snap better. I will focus on specifically looking at the the way the executable is linked. Would that be sufficient for your comment?

If the purpose is what you described in the opening of the post, just make sure it matches.
