Request classic confinement for psadi-wezterm

This is a request for classic confinement for my build of wezterm.

Request - OpenID transaction in progress

  • name: psadi-wezterm
  • description: WezTerm is a cross-platform terminal emulator and multiplexer written in Rust. It supports ligatures, color emoji, hyperlinks, mouse and scroll-back, and runs on Linux, macOS, Windows 10, and FreeBSD.
  • snapcraft: Public

GPU accelerated terminal that requires access to system resources. This Snap has been created and inspiration from Alacritty snap package by Snapcrafters which is a similar project (GPU accelerated terminal that uses a classic confinement)

Hi @psadi , does this project part of the upstream wezterm? If not then I would suggest getting this snap part upstream as it would be easy for maintenance. Let us know if you think other way

thanks

Yes it is part of upstream wezterm. I’m working out with the author to be part of the upstream. But at the moment things are moving really slow.

Since most of my packages are snaps, I would like to publish my build of the same.

I agree on the maintenance part, but until we have an official version released I would like to continue my own build.

Please let me know if there are any foreseeable discrepancies.

Hi @psadi, that is fine. Since this snap comes under terminal/emulators category, it does fit for the classic confinement. let us know @reviewers if you think otherwise

Also as part of classic confinement, we need to perform publisher vetting of the author, here is the process for your reference: Process for performing Snap Publisher Vetting

Have made the request for vetting, PF link: Process for performing Snap Publisher Vetting - #7 by psadi

@psadi this is not how you request vetting - @0xnishit has said this may need to be done, if so he or some other @reviewer will initiate the process. As such I have deleted your post on that thread.

Okay, Thanks for clarifying. Kindly let me know how long this process normally takes ?

Hey @psadi, I forgot to ask whether you are part of the original project GitHub - wez/wezterm: A GPU-accelerated cross-platform terminal emulator and multiplexer written by @wez and implemented in Rust as a contributor or any other way?

Currently i am not a contributor to the original project in anyway (Proposal in place on a open GH Issue)

Hey @psadi, As part of our review process, we are required to verify that the publisher has appropriate permissions for the associated upstream repository. Unfortunately, in this instance, we were unable to confirm that you have such permissions. As a result, we cannot grant classic confinement at this time.

If you have any questions or need further assistance, please feel free to ask.

thanks

If i fork the repo and maintain my own upstream, would i be able to publish my own version of the build ?
