Request autoconnect removable-media interface for Thunderbird

Thank you for considering my following request for the removable-media interface to be auto-connected on the Thunderbird snap

  • name: Thunderbird
  • description: Email client
  • snapcraft: snapcraft.yaml
  • upstream: upstream Thunderbird repository
  • upstream-relation: The Thunderbird snap is important for Ubuntu desktop and is co-maintained between the Ubuntu desktop team (@seb128 ) and the Thunderbird team (@hellsworth1 )
  • interfaces:
    • <interface-name>: removable-media
      • request-type: auto-connection
      • reasoning: It is common that a user wants to attach a file to their email that comes from a mounted drive and we see this crop up time and time again. Having this interface auto-connected would be very useful to those users that may not know that issuing snap connect thunderbird:removable-media will fix their issue.

Hi @hellsworth1

Sounds reasonable to me. +1 from me for granting Thunderbird *auto-connectionto theremovable-media` interface.

Thanks

+1 from me as well - this fits the snap and can be expected by users

Thank you so much for voting in favor of this! Are there more votes needed to make the change?

hi @hellsworth1 - we just have to wait for the 7 day voting period to finish and if there are no -1 votes from the reviewers, we will go ahead and make this request live!

ah ok gotcha. that makes sense and thanks!

I also forgot to add that since removable-media is a privileged interface, we will need to perform publisher vetting too as per Process for performing Snap Publisher Vetting. But this will also happen at the end of voting!

@cav thunderbird is published by Canonical so is already vetted
