I contacted the creator of tonkeeper wallet to have them make a snap, but they don’t want to take the time to do it. So I spent two days learning the documentation and making a snap of tonkeeper. Eventually I was able to build a correctly working snap of this wallet. I posted it, but it was deleted without any warning and I can’t get into my account. Please help me. https://snapcraft.io/tkeeper/
Here is a link to this snap. I built it from origanl sources from the tonkeeper repository. It has been uploaded to the site. Anyone can download this snap and check its safety and if it works correctly: https://dropmefiles.com/MkXvr
P.S. I post this link here not for advertising, but so that competent people of mine can check it out and write their opinion
Snaps aren’t removed for no reason. Are you sure the name isn’t just waiting for approval? This shows as a 404 publically but you should still see the snap name as pending on your developer account.
Or perhaps it is related to these events: https://popey.com/blog/tags/scam/
Yeah, they probably thought it was some kind of phishing and deleted my snap. Yesterday I got messages from a member of the snapcraft team that they will review my snap. I hope that when they review it and make sure it’s a normal app that I spent my free time on they will post it again.
It would be great if the snapcraft team would moderate all added cryptocurrency wallets. Then phishing wallets will not be able to get into the snap store and accidental blocking will also be excluded. Because the market for linux is too small, publishers with millions and tens of millions of installations on other platforms rarely want to contact and self-host their products here, even when asked, so you have to do it yourself and it’s very unpleasant when it’s removed without review.
I’m confused.
Was your app ever publically available? There’s a review process on name registration, directly associated to the events posted above.
Actually removing a snap outright is rare. Especially because the best process for a suspected malicious snap is that the snap is forcibly taken over by Canonical and replaced with a stub to defang it. ( An empty update to prevent the snap from continuing to function. ) Otherwise people with malware will continue to have malware, because their clients will never update to remove it.
So even in the case of a snap being malicious, it isn’t outright deleted. They persist in unlisted mode, with an update to force all clients to effectively purge it.
My guess here is the snap hasn’t completed the initial review to be uploaded, which usually takes about a week.
And I’d say generally, I think the community is keen on Canonical to be more proactive on quality control than they currently are, not less, if that involves frustrating a developer for a week as a one off, it’s a necessary evil in my opinion. iOs, Android, Steam, Microsoft Store & etc can drag those reviews out for months.
As is unless there’s something stating otherwise, I’d reasonably expect you can publish to that name in a few days. Check the status at dashboard.snapcraft.io
Yes, my snap was available for download for a short while after posting. The page has since been deleted and my account on the site has been locked. I still can’t get into my account. The snap was transferred to some other account it was written in the email I received. I don’t know how the reviews are done, this is my first snap. I was also disappointed with the feedback, I did not receive any replies to the message via help@snapcraft.io, I only got a reply after I wrote to three members of the snapcraft team in private messages
You are absolutely right, especially in the case of cryptocurrency wallets such checks are a perfectly adequate measure to improve the quality of any app store. But not blocking developer’s accounts and deleting the snap immediately after publication, without specifying the reasons for these actions and any verification. I’m afraid that if I didn’t write to the personal messages of the team members nobody would consider this snap after blocking it
Hi gorgonas, apologies for the disruption. Due to the emergence of malicious crypto wallet snaps, we have an internal policy to take down all new crypto-related snaps unless they are published by a Verified Account or Star Developer. We are currently preparing a related external policy, which will be published on the forum. I can post it here when it’s ready.
Your account has been restored. Please let us know if you have questions
Greetings, Holly. Thank you for your reply. Great, I will look forward to the updated policy. Regarding my snap I thought that after verification it will be published, but as I understand it won’t happen because I am not an official developer?
