did you follow the advise and restart your session (i.e. log out and back in again or reboot) ?
I I have restarted my computer many times. Did not help
what is the full output of snap version
and do you use some special non-default shell as your login shell ?

And I am using fish…
that might be your issue (i think i remember there were issues with fish not respecting the environment proper)
Hmmmm… It is strange. I changed my shell to bash and all began working.
i did some googling, perhaps this helps ?
