Ownership transfer requirements

Apache NetBeans (netbeans and netbeans-dev snaps) is planning to drop providing convenience packages, leaving packaging to the community.

So far on behalf of NetBeans PMC, I was uploading those packages, built on Apache Infrastructure.

I would still like to continue providing Snap packaged netbeans, though no longer under the Apache NetBeans project. What would be the process/required materials for this transfer to happen?

Hi @lkishalmi ,

If I understand correctly, do you want to transfer the ownership of the netbeans and netbeans-dev Snap package names to you personally?

Well, either me or there is a Friends of NetBeans Community founded for NetBeans binary distribution.

The main movement is to move binary distribution away from Apache Foundation, so the project there would be responsible for the source release only. The main reason is to be able to provide binaries with a proper JDK bundled (that is hard to be done due to Apache license policies).

This move would also improve the Snap user experience, as right now it needs an external JDK to be installed, beside the Snap.

Hi,

Can you please add the intended recipient as a collaborator to the snap and have them accept the invite they’ll receive by email? This allows us to verify authorization and intent. Please let me know once this is done and I’ll complete the transfer.
