Hi team,
I’ve recently been assisting the mudlet team getting their software on the snap store. As part of this, we noticed that the name was already taken, but unused. I’ve filed a name dispute through the dashboard, but was not sure whether to also create a forum post; so here we are.
Upstream issue confirming the name transfer:
opened 10:05AM - 09 Nov 24 UTC
#### Brief summary of issue / Description of requested feature:
There is curr… ently no snap available of Mudlet in https://snapcraft.io. While there was ideas for doing this in https://github.com/Mudlet/Mudlet/issues/901, it ended up not being a priority and the issue was closed due to lack of volunteers.
#### Steps to reproduce the issue / Reasons for adding feature:
There is a prior package available as `mudlet-linux`, which is just a naive redist of the appimage, which for obvious reasons does not work, and while it allows users to extract the appimage and run it that way, it takes away all of the benefits of having it as a snap in the first place.
#### Error output / Expected result of feature
A snap to be available in the snap store
#### Extra information, such as the Mudlet version, operating system and ideas for how to solve / implement:
* I'm happy to take on the work and create the `snapcraft.yaml` needed.
* The name `mudlet` seems to have been registered in the snap store already, if it is by you, we need to make sure we get the required snapcraft credentials added as a secret in the repo. If not, we should file a name claim to get it.
Vadi also volunteered to validate the request over email, as per his comment in the linked issue.
Best,
Simon

Hi, guys! Thanks for your interest into snapping.
@MarisaG , what do you think about this name dispute?
@MarisaG , sorry for bothering you.
@simskij is requesting mudlet
name for his snap. mudlet-linux
should continue to live without worrying.
Hi everyone! Thanks for your patience.
I’ve transferred ownership of mudlet
snap from mudlet-bot
to @simskij publisher account.
P.S. JFYI, the name was acquired by Vadim more than 7 years ago:
March 20, 2017 va***.per****in@mudlet.org (Publisher)
I'm the creator of the software from http://www.mudlet.org.

I’d be happy to transfer the ownership of the snap to you. Just email me at marisag@haikumail.online and tell me what to do.
