Misleading help text on account page

Hello all,

Under Account-Id on https://dashboard.snapcraft.io/dev/account/, you can see the help text “Your account ID, automatically created on the first snap upload.” I’ve run in to someone who was trying to do something other than upload snaps (specifically, they were trying to register a key so they could sign an assertion) where this has derailed them, despite the fact that if they had just continued on with what they were doing, it would have been populated.

Could we update this text to reflect the times when the field will be populated more accurately?

Thanks for reporting it.

You are right. The current help text predates Store workflows that do not involve snap uploads (QA, model-management) and while the system is already creating account-ids on demand for all known cases, not being clear about it causes confusion.

I filed https://bugs.launchpad.net/snapstore/+bug/1687021 to fix Store help text.
