Logging on Ubuntu Core

So I put this question under “cafe” because it’s more of a general discussion question than a specific request.

I’m wondering generally how people are handling logging on Ubuntu Core devices, specifically shipping logs to a central log server. I imagine that the implementation could be quite varied depending on the use case. I see that Core 18 no longer ships with rsyslog. At the same time I didn’t see an rsyslog snap already in the store. So maybe people rolling their own solutions? I’d love to hear people’s experience (or some links) because a google search didn’t turn up much specific.

Snapping rsyslog turned out to be a snap. I got it shipping logs to Loggly in an evening.

Cheers!

hah, funny, @jamesj just recently packaged a journald remote logging service that prevents you from having to run rsyslog additionally on the device …
