If I understand correctly, the livepatch service is only available for LTS kernels and their HWE backports to previous LTS versions, which would make the focal 5.4 kernel the most recent supported version. However, when checking the livepatch status when running with a focal HWE 5.11 kernel the patch state is reported as: “no livepatches needed for this kernel yet”. If livepatches are only provided for the stock 5.4 kernel this message is misleading as it gives the false impression that the HWE kernel is supported - potentially leaving systems vulnerable.
If HWE kernels are indeed not supported this should be clearly stated in the patch state (and the livepatch icon on any desktop install should also not be shown with a green checkmark).
