Issues with Core on Raspberry Pi Compute Module

I did a fresh install on a Raspberry Pi Compute Module 3 (CM3), and ran into some issues.

In short, the device boots, and I’m able to ‘pair’ it so that I can SSH in. I’m however unable to run snap refresh due to some issue with snapd.

It looks like a part of the log was skipped (presumably by the less pager. Can you try to get the full log please?

we actually have a daily community build for the cm3 from the edge channel at http://people.canonical.com/~ogra/snappy/all-snaps/daily/current/ since yesterday.
probably @ondra could give some hints how he made it work for these images.

@ogra is there any particular reason why there is a separate build? The CM3 is more or less identical to the Pi 2 (sans missing hardware of course).

there are some uboot differences AFAIK

Where can I find out the exact difference?

as i said in the beginning, @ondra should be able to give a summary. i only roll the image from the gadget snap he produces … note that there might also be interface differences later since the CM can probably sit on top of different base boards with different HW configs which might require other interface definitions than a normal Pi. so having a separate gadget (and through that a separate image) makes some sense.

@vpetersson
there are only few differences:

  • updated u-boot:

    • fixing UART output from u-boot
    • adding CM3 board to list of known boards
  • fixed config to enable uart and video on CM3

  • updated kernel cmd line to enable console on uart

  • updated dtb for CM3 to enable uart

you can see git repo for gadget here:
https://github.com/kubiko/pi3-gadget/tree/cm3

Excellent. Thanks, @ondra.
