How flexible is snapcraft? Can it be used to build a deb?

Hi everyone. Just idle curiosity.

As I understand, the main feature of snapd is security. If we were not interested in that, we would use the same approach snapcraft uses to build debs instead of snaps. Suppose a relatively big .deb wants to declare some other debs as dependencies, and also to bring some libs itself, (possibly, by taking some readily built files and modifying the dynamic linker paths)

How easy would be to use snapcraft as a tool to build such a deb? Has anyone tried to do that?)
