Gimp not starting

On Ubuntu 20.04 I can’t start Gimp anymore. I get the following error message:

ln: failed to create symbolic link '/home/fkeclik/snap/gimp/273/.config/gtk-2.0/gtkfilechooser.ini': File exists

/snap/gimp/273/usr/bin/gimp: error while loading shared libraries: libgdk_pixbuf-2.0.

When i want to remove gimp i get this error

error: cannot perform the following tasks:
- Disconnect gimp:sound-themes from gtk-common-themes:sound-themes (cannot update mount namespace of snap "gimp": cannot update preserved namespace of snap "gimp":

Can you try running SNAPD_DEBUG=1 SNAP_CONFINE_DEBUG=1 snap run gimp in a terminal and post the resulting output?

Maybe the filesystem view of a snap is inconsistent for some reason. As a workaround you can try running sudo /usr/lib/snapd/snap-discard-ns gimp before removing the snap.

You’re running a very old copy of the GIMP snap. Letting it update to the latest should help.

i just downloaded latest version from this https://gimp.cc/download-gimp/ this is legit site or there are any official website for to download gimp

I’m a bit confused. The site lists a flatpak of gimp, not a snap.

If you indeed have installed a gimp snap, then running snap list gimp will give you basic information of the version. You can then run snap refresh gimp which will update the snap to the lastest version.

This is not the official GIMP website. Downloading software from it will be at your own risk. The official GIMP website is https://gimp.org/. The Snap of GIMP is downloadable from the Snap Store and is not linked-to by gimp.org.
