Firefox: Previously running command opened new window, now 'Already running' error

As per the topic, previous to Ubuntu 22.04, if I ran the command ‘firefox’ and firefox was already running, it would open a new window.

As of Ubuntu 22.04, if I run ‘firefox’ and it is already running, I get ‘Firefox is already running, but is not responding. To use firefox, you must first close the existing Firefox process, restart your device or use a different profile.’ - Firefox is working fine, so it appears snap is not connecting to the existing instance.

How can I fix?

Bump. This is still an issue.

This is working for me here. Can you share details about your setup and desktop environment? Are you running the firefox snap (default on 22.04), or is it installed using different means? Is it an X11 or Wayland session? Can you share the output of env | egrep -i "session|moz" ?
