Do you mean that you’re trying to Open a file directly with a program rather than Saving it? This is a known issue, last comment from a dev was in August 2017. I don’t think that we can do anything about this issue other than wait for devs to get round to thinking about it some more, do Like the posts there though! 
Also, actually, I wonder if some more recent work going on would fix this issue.
