Explain: Series

Good evening,

I would be very grateful if someone could layout the rationale behind the store Series. What is it? Why does it exist? Is it really used? If it’s not used, is it likely to be used?

The client must send the Snap-Device-Series and User-Agent mandatory headers. For the Snap-Device-Series header, the only supported value so far is ‘16’.

Hello, I believe this was intended to provide context on the (Ubuntu) series of the underlying system for compatibility purposes. It’s a legacy feature that didn’t really take off, it’s unlikely to be actually used. I think it should be deprecated eventually.
