Please, refresh the snapd package and try again: you’re running what looks like snapd 2.0.x. That’s really old.

As John says. I’d recommend making sure your system is up to date.

If it’s an Ubuntu based system then sudo apt-get update followed by sudo apt-get dist-upgrade should get you in a better place.
