Engrampa: lightweight file archiver

Hello,

I think it would be nice to have a lightweight archive manager on Snap. The two current available options are Ark and B1.

The issue I have with Ark is that you have to install the whole KDE framework package which takes so much space. As for B1, I appreciate the effort but it’s not something I’d install.

Engrampa is the default archive program on Xubuntu and Mate desktops, I think it would be a great fit.

The repository is here: GitHub - mate-desktop/engrampa: A file archiver for MATE .

Any thoughts? Thanks

To facilitate the creation of Snap GTK and QT apps, we use the gnome and kde-neon-6 extensions. In core24, these extensions make the Snaps use the gnome-46-2404 and/or kf6-core24 content Snaps as dependencies.

They are large so that the Snap apps that use them can be small.

Now that I’ve explained that, I’d like to say that I’ve published two alternatives to Ark on Snapcraft. Since this is the first time I’ve published an app like this, some things might be missing.

I published Engrampa under the name engrampa-kyu and lxqt-archiver; engrampa-kyu uses the gnome extension, while lxqt-archiver uses the kde-neon-6 extension. I’ll leave the links below.

This is amazing! Thank you a lot for publishing these apps, and so quickly!

Enjoy the rest of your weekend, have a good day
