Can't install snap skype --classic and don't understand the error

Hallo community,
I’ve tried to install skype and got this error. And I don’t get it. What does it mean?

sudo snap install skype --channel=insider/stable --classic
[same happens with sudo snap install skype --classic]
error: cannot install “skype”: classic confinement requires snaps under /snap
or symlink from /snap to /var/lib/snapd/snap

thanks for your help/response.

PS: I’m using manjaro linux xfce 4.19.20-1

greetings,
enzo

What the error is trying to say is: Manjaro puts snaps in /var/lib/snapd/snap. For classic snaps to work, you need to ln -s /var/lib/snapd/snap /snap.

thank you very much, it works  #Iamnewbie

I think this is an opportunity for us to improve the text there. You’re not the first to ask why this doesn’t work, which says to me we need to work on that. Perhaps a more explanatory message or something which links to online documentation which provides more detail would be better.
