Cannot run any snap

I just did a fresh Ubuntu 18.04 install, installed AMDGPU-PRO, Ubuntu Kernel Utility and a 4.19.6-041906-generic kernel. Then I installed a few snaps and went to try them out. It didn’t launch from the gui launcher and the $ snap run <installed-snap-name> always gets me the following result:

cannot perform readlinkat() on the mount namespace file descriptor of the init process: Permission denied

[EDIT]:

$ sudo snap refresh core --edge appears to have fixed the issue for me. When is the fix expected to land into stable?

No reply to this from any snap protagonist after more than 11 months tells me: snap is unreliable **** that nobody cares about.

as you can see from the last line, it was already fixed in the edge channel when it was reported … that should tell you that snap issues are often enough fixed ahead of time
