I just tried installing a base18 snap as the first snap on an Ubuntu Classic 16.04LTS system.
This installed core18 but failed to install the snap (egmde-confined-desktop) because running the install hook failed with: “cannot locate the core snap: No such file or directory”.
Installing core manually worked around this problem.
Surely either core should not be needed (and core18 used?) or core should installed automatically?
