Call For Testing: Webcord

Webcord is an electron based FOSS client for Discord and Spacebar. Though, the snap almost the same like discord snap. I would like to know if screenshare in general and in wayland works or not, nvidia and other small details. I would like if the community tries this snap and gives me some feedback. Only then I’ll push it to stable.

To install it:

sudo snap install webcord --edge

I just setup my previous workstation for my daughter to use steam. It’s ubuntu 22.04 still, wayland, gnome. She wants to screen share with discord and I remember reading about “webcord” which claims to do. I saw this snap, and I used --edge. I thought snap, wayland, discord, there is no way this is going to work.

It worked right away. Amazing.

You don’t need to use edge anymore  It’s now in stable.

After allowing camera and mic access, I had to reload the app in order for Webcord to see it.

I also have a global menu and it’s not respecting it. In addition, the icon on the title bar is the Wayland icon
