Snapcraft 8.5.0 is in the latest/candidate and 8.x/candidate channels. The tentative release date is 2024-12-02T06:00:00Z.

Highlights include:

  • A new plugin for Poetry projects.
  • A new experimental extension to simplify passing environment variables to snaps at runtime.
  • Support for registries with the new commands list-registries and edit-registries.
  • An overhaul of the init command to set the snap name and the project directory and support for profiles.
