Installation

sudo snap install --channel=beta audio-recorder

# OPTIONAL: Allow record in removable storage media
sudo snap connect audio-recorder:removable-media

(Don’t have snapd installed?)

What’s Works

  • Recording to OGG/MP3 files
  • Sound level meter

What’s Not

  • Mpris support doesn’t seem to be working
  • Dbus interface doesn’t seem to be working
  • M4A format not working (generated file not playable)
  • Format selection is buggy and not always effective at runtime

I like audio-recorder as it is the only practical way I have found to record something I am listening to in a browser.
I use Fedora-34, since there is no Flatpak for audio-recorder I installed Snap first then audio-recorder.
Unfortunately it fails with

[chris@fedora ~]$ audio-recorder
WARNING: cgroup v2 is not fully supported yet, proceeding with partial confinement
Segmentation fault (core dumped)
[chris@fedora ~]$
