authenticator

I am new to snap, i have just installed it from https://snapcraft.io/install/authenticator/opensuse for the purpose of using the authenticator app. While other snaps work, the authenticator app does not.

Here is some information:

~> snap version snap 2.59.5 snapd 2.59.5 series 16 opensuse-leap 15.4 kernel 5.14.21-150400.24.55-default

The opensuse system is out of the box, i made no alterations on the system. Here is what i get when starting the authenticator app:

~> authenticator 2023-06-23T09:42:06.166685Z INFO authenticator::application: Authenticator (com.belmoussaoui.Authenticator) 2023-06-23T09:42:06.166711Z INFO authenticator::application: Version: 4.2.0 () 2023-06-23T09:42:06.166716Z INFO authenticator::application: Datadir: /usr/share/authenticator 2023-06-23T09:42:06.179103Z INFO authenticator::application: Migrating the secrets to the file backend 2023-06-23T09:42:06.184042Z ERROR authenticator::application: Failed to migrate your data DBus error zbus error org.freedesktop.DBus.Error.ServiceUnknown: The name org.freedesktop.secrets was not provided by any .service files thread ‘main’ panicked at ‘Failed to start a location service: DBus(Zbus(MethodError(OwnedErrorName(ErrorName(Str(Owned(“org.freedesktop.DBus.Error.ServiceUnknown”)))), Some(“The name org.freedesktop.secrets was not provided by any .service files”), Msg { type: Error, sender: UniqueName(Str(Borrowed(“org.freedesktop.DBus”))), reply-serial: 2, body: Signature(“s”) })))’, src/application.rs:310:18

(I omit the stack backtrace that is following)

Has anyone an easy explanation why it does not work?

welcome to the community !!!

note that this snap has not seen a stable release ever but is only available through the edge (in-development) channel … such snaps should generally be taken with a grain of salt …

sadly the snapcraft.io/authenticator page has no bugtracker set in its “links” section, perhaps @kenvandine (the owner of the snap) can point you to te correct place to report bugs …
