Apply Fullname change on the Store

While we are in incubation phase in Apache, we are not allowed to use the full project name Apache NetBeans without marking it (incubating). I’ve changed the account details and the fullname says Apache NetBeans (incubating), however this change has not been reflected on the store. Could someone apply that change there?

Sooner or later we are going to graduate as a full Apache project, then this change needs to be reapplied.

Hello,

The process to change the details is a bit convoluted; it’s something we’re working on making more straightforward.

Could you try this in the meantime? it’s a workaround really.

  1. go to https://login.ubuntu.com/
  2. change your details as required (full name)
  3. save
  4. go to https://dashboard.snapcraft.io/
  5. logout
  6. login
  7. go to https://dashboard.snapcraft.io/dev/account/
  8. change details again
  9. save

Let me know if it works!

Unfortunately it did not work. I’ve tried a few times, also used private browsing to avoid previously cached cookies.

Hello,

Sorry to hear that :frowning: I just checked with my own account and changes do propagate correctly. Further, I’ve checked administratively and your SSO account is still showing the old username, which tells me something went wrong when you tried to change that.

Could I ask you to please repeat the process? (You say you did, a few times, but let’s focus on changing the SSO username). I’ll work with you verifying after each set of instructions so you don’t repeat things needlessly.

1- Go to https://login.ubuntu.com/ You will land on the “personal details” page. In here, change your “Full Name” (it should still show (incubating) since you haven’t changed it. 2- Change it to the desired value, then click on the orange “Save changes” button. 3- Confirm you get “Your account details have been successfully updated” at the top of the page, and that the “Full Name” field now has the value you want. 4- At this point, please let me know so I can triple-check on the admin side that everything is changed correctly.

We’ll do the rest of the steps once we’ve confirmed the name is correctly changed.

Thanks!

I’v just tried to change the Full Name on the SSO page from “Apache NetBeans (incubating)” -> “Apache NetBeans”, then back to “Apache NetBeans” -> “Apache NetBeans (incubating)”.
Both cases I have the “Your account details have been successfully updated” message and the full name has changed on the top of SSO. page.
So it is right now set as it should be.

I just tried to update the account on https://dashboard.snapcraft.io/dev/account/ as well, still, not working, so you can do the tripple checks.

Thank’s for you assistance!

Hello! ok, so I was misunderstanding what you wanted - you want the full name to be “Apache NetBeans (incubating)”, correct?

Your changes on login.ubuntu.com are now correct - please don’t change that anymore

I checked on dashboard.snapcraft.io, and your name is indeed not correct there. Could you please now:

  1. go to https://dashboard.snapcraft.io/
  2. logout
  3. login again at https://dashboard.snapcraft.io/

This should refresh your full name to “Apache NetBeans (incubating)” which is what you have in SSO, this can be seen on the top menu. For the record, I just tried this with my account and it seems to work, so I’m hoping it will work for you too.

If after doing those three steps it doesn’t update, please let me know.

Note that I’ll be on holiday for the next couple of weeks but I’ll try to check in the forum to keep helping you solve this. Just be patient because my replies may be a bit slower

Tried again, did not change the SSO.
Signed out, Signed in, also pressed “Update my account” on the account details page, the Full name field did not change.

I think I see what the situation is - your developer account was “verified” by Martin Wimpress (hi @Wimpress!) on October 9th, 2018. Because of this, it seems that changes to your developer account must be done administratively, instead of with the process I described (which works for non-verified accounts).

Since Martin verified the account, I would prefer not to change this without his OK; once we hear from him, we can proceed. But to be clear, you don’t need to do anything here; the action is the administrative side.

@roadmr This is a reasonable change. Please can you action it?

Is it a feature the verified accounts can’t be modified?

Well, our new release is out. https://netbeans.apache.org/download/nb100/nb100.html

Sorry for the delay! I’ve updated your developer display-name for your verified account. Please check it now and let me know how it looks.

They can’t be modified by the publishers themselves, which is a feature. If a verified developer were free to modify their displayname, they could potentially mistakenly set it to something confusing or misleading.

Administrators can change this if needed (for example, in the case of this post’s request).

Cheers!

Looks good! Thank you!

@roadmr Fortunately we need to change the full name in the store for apache-netbeans (Apache NetBeans) account as our project just graduated from Apache Incubation to a top level Apache project, so we no longer have to put the “incubation” branding to everywhere.

I’ve already altered the account details, it is just the full name which has to be altered. Now we are simply called as: Apache NetBeans

See: https://twitter.com/netbeans/status/1118640035883098112

I have changed your account’s name as requested (congrats on hatching! :hatching_chick:) - all that remains is for you to remove “incubating” from the snap’s “summary” field. Let me know if you need help with that as well, but you should be able to self-service it.

Thank you guys for the quick response! I’ve updated the rest!
BTW Congratulations for Ubuntu 19.04!
