Applications with .desktop file in /usr/share/applications or its $HOME counterpart don't show their application icons in Wayland

This example is with Firefox Nightly, which is a parallel install. I tested with putting the .desktop file in /usr/share/applications and ~/.local/share/applications

First launch:

Afterwards…:

$ grep -i ~/.local/share/applications/firefox+edge_firefox.desktop 
Icon=/snap/firefox_edge/current/default256.png

Checked the path and it exists
