App Not Showing in Start Menu after installation

System: Debian 12 Bookworm Desktop Env: Mate Packages Installed: standard notes, bitwarden, vs codium

I recently installed Signal (or Standard Notes or VS Codium) via Snap on my Linux system, but none the applications appears in the Start Menu (or Applications Menu) as expected. Usually, the shortcut is created automatically, but in this case, it’s missing, making it difficult to launch the app without using the terminal.

Steps I’ve tried so far:

  1. Verified that the app is installed using snap list.
  2. Tried rebooting the system.
  3. Checked /var/lib/snapd/desktop/applications to ensure that the .desktop file exists.

I can start the app using the terminal with signal-desktop (or standard-notes), or manually create a start menu icon, but I would like it to show up automatically after installation.

Has anyone encountered this issue before, or does anyone have a solution to make the app appear in the menu?

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

See the snap directories is not there. Try restarting?

It should look like this

/usr/share/ubuntu:/usr/share/gnome:/usr/local/share/:/usr/share/:/var/lib/snapd/desktop
