I’m a bit terrified right now as it isn’t even a regular snap but a content snap I created years ago, is there any high-profile snaps consuming it?
The snap appears to be this one:
The numbers strikes up at around 2022/9/20…what happened at that time?
Hi!
Yes, the high-profile snap in question is none other than Firefox. We added this:
hunspell-dictionaries:
interface: content
target: $SNAP/usr/share/hunspell
default-provider: hunspell-dictionaries-1-7-2004
let’s tag @osomon so he’s aware these changes have worried you

Thanks for the swift answer! That’s a relief.
Congratulations on your high score! That’s seriously impressive!
(Your DAU graph is looking like it could benefit from some logarithms now though!)
Congrats! That’s amazing, great job on the really cool snap!
Please note that the change was partially reverted in the stable channel cshortly afterward, because it was discovered that depending on a non-seeded snap broke building Ubuntu images.
This content snap is still being consumed for firefox from the beta and edge channels, though.
A proper fix for the problem involves:
- transferring ownership of the hunspell content snap to Canonical

Note that I’m all for the ownership transfer, drop me a line if there’s anything I need to do at my end.
