Hello @policy-reviewers,
I’d like to request Star Developer status for my publisher account, 0p-88.
I’m the creator and maintainer of Capture, an open-source Linux utility focused on taking screenshots, protecting sensitive information in them, and preserving their integrity.
- Store: https://snapcraft.io/capture
- Confinement: strict
- License: GPL-3.0
I first reached out about verification back in April 2026, when Capture was still fairly new. Since then, I’ve continued developing and maintaining it, and the project has grown quite a bit.
Capture is now almost at 500 weekly active devices across more than 60 territories, entirely through organic adoption. France alone currently accounts for more than 170 active devices.
A big part of what I’ve tried to keep consistent throughout development is the privacy model. Capture is designed to handle sensitive screenshots locally rather than sending them to a cloud service. It runs under strict confinement and does not require classic confinement or broad host access. The main dependencies, including PyQt6, Tesseract OCR, and the required language data, are packaged with the snap.
I’ve also been keeping an eye on the dependencies and security updates behind the application. When issues such as upstream libxml2 advisories have come up, I’ve rebuilt and released updated versions rather than leaving affected dependencies sitting in an older release.
I’m requesting the Star Developer status because Capture has moved well beyond the early project I originally submitted for consideration. It now has a growing user base, regular maintenance, and a fairly clear focus on privacy and security.
I’d appreciate it if the project and publisher account could be considered for the status.
Thank you for taking the time to review it.
