@ogra @kenvandine (and ?) VLC devs need some help to solve the critical bug that makes VLC snap not starting (without the fc-cache trick):
This is happening to bzoing snap on a fresh kubuntu 23.04 install. Also on Ubuntu 23.04.
These issues shouldnât happen when using core22 and the gnome extension, weâve isolated the font caches so they canât suffer from incompatibilities with the host cache. Ideally these snaps should be updated to use core22 to benefit from improvements that have accumulated over the past several years.
Still happens with 6.4.12-200.fc38.x86_64 and devgpt. proposed fixes do not work.
Just for curiosity:
xdpyinfo shows dimensions: 3840x2160 pixels (1016x571 millimeters) resolution: 96x96 dots per inch
Pixels: OK resolution is 283x283 dpi - not 96x96 !! NOT OK 1016 mm a bit to large for a 15.5" display
So - is this font problem related to a âfont scaling bugâ??
