Snapcraft API integration to GitHub Broken. "Building Soon" forever message but never builds

  • Snap name: cluemaster-mediadisplay-core

  • Build ID: 3078120

  • Symptom: builds stay at “Building Soon” forever, no corresponding build appears on Launchpad

  • Already tried: disconnecting/reconnecting GitHub, requesting builds manually. Using remote-build from CLI does work and uploads waiting for a build server.

  • This started after March 4th commit but the commit only changes application code, not snapcraft.yaml

If any Canonical staff are reading this, please help. Disconnecting/Reconnecting the gitHub repo usually fixes this issue for me over the years in the past, but now its not working.

Nevermind. After 24 hours, it started to build. Not sure what was going on or if there was a massgive build queue.

Myself and others have had similar recently.

It’s a bit painful that you get no extra info, and no real way to manage builds via that page. You just have to sit and wait, pretty much.

The only action you can take, is to submit another build, which cancel any current or pending build for the same snap+arch, but that’s it.

I was thinking recently it may actually be better to build and GitHub directly if this becomes too much of a sticking point, and deploy to edge from there. It’s a bit more setup and maintenance, but if you only need x86 and arm, it would do everything needed, and give more insight and controls.

Cheers,
