Snap not added to path in Cinnamon

Hi,
I have been using snap for a while now but always had to get a root shell before I could launch snap installed applications. I never quite understood why. I now wanted to create a keyboard shortcut to launch a certain snap application, but this failed. After a few hours of searching I have figured out that snap is not added to the path (which the /etc/profile.d/apps-bin-path.sh script does) of graphical sessions. If I get into a non-graphical session using Ctrl+Alt+F1, the path includes /snap/bin. If I open a terminal emulator and su, the path also includes /snap/bin.

How can I make sure that /snap/bin is included in the path that Cinnamon uses?
Thanks!
