Snap apps do not show up in the lauch/start menu on LXDE

I am using Ubuntu 18.04 and LXDE as my desktop environment. Whenever I install an app via snap, the app does not show up in the launch menu.

What I have done to try to fix it:

  • Added /var/lib/snapd/desktop to to XDG_DATA_DIRS Path

But that does not work.

The only thing that works is manually copying the .desktop entry of the app from /var/lib/snapd/desktop/applications to /usr/share/applications which is not ideal.

Output of snap --version is:

snap 2.42
snapd 2.42
series 16
ubuntu 18.04
kernel 5.0.0-31-generic

Is there a solution to this?

This was already discussed in this other thread. It appears this is a known bug in LXDE.
